Deschutes County residents, and people from all around Oregon, now have a great new way to get their questions answered: text a librarian! Thanks to a new service provided by L-net, Oregon's statewide 24/7 answer service, you can text those pressing queries and receive a prompt answer back from a librarian. At the beach and want to know when low tide is? Text us! Trying to settle a bar bet? Text us! Need to know when your local library is open? Text us!
To use this new service, simply text the word answers
and enter your question. The first time you text the number, you'll receive some brief instructions. After that, you'll receive an answer back from a librarian shortly.L-net
allows people to ask questions via live online chat, email, and now text message. The service is staffed by librarians from around the state, including staff from the Deschutes Public Library. It is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oregon State Library.
