The Children's Department of the Bend Public Library will be closed to the public beginning Wednesday, April 6. It will remain closed until early May. This closure is the last phase of a remodel that includes enlarging the meeting room, installing new carpet, and rearranging shelving to better enhance the space in the Children’s Area.
“We are ahead of schedule and hope to complete the project two weeks earlier than previously scheduled,” said Youth Services Manager Heather McNeil. “We regret the inconvenience to our patrons during the month of April, but believe the long-term benefit is worth this short-term interruption.”
During the closure, the Children’s desk will be moved to the Bend Public Library lobby. Staff will be available to retrieve Children’s books, CD’s, DVD’s, and other materials for patrons. Patrons can also place books on hold through the library’s website, www.dpls.us, and the books will be available at the "Request Pick Up" shelves in the lobby.
Story time programs will be held in the Staff Training Room of the Library Administration Building located at 507 NW Wall Street. The schedule is as follows:
Toddlin' Tales: Tuesdays, 10:15 and 11
Baby Steps: Wednesdays, 11 and 2:30
Preschool Parade: Fridays, 10:15 and 1:30
This closure is for the Children's Department only. The other departments of the Bend Public Library will remain open.
