Two sold-out crowds enjoyed an evening with The Kite Runner author Khaled Hosseini. Dr. Hosseini discussed his life in Afghanistan and Europe and his experience immigrating to America.
The two author events culminated this year's A Novel Idea...Read Together program. The 2005 Novel Idea program had more than 20 cultural programs throughout Deschutes County with thousands of residents reading the book and taking part in discussion groups, lectures on Afghanistan's history and culture, Afghan food tastings, kite flying demonstrations, and films.
Help us select next year's book. Selection forms are available in each branch library and are due back on June 30.
The Deschutes Public Library thanks its leading sponsors who made the two evenings possible -- The Deschutes Public Library Foundation, The Source Weekly, Combined Communications, and Diana and Matt Tomseth.
