“Think of it as the owner’s manual to eating right, regardless of your health conditions,” says Dr. Janice Blumer, D.O. of her presentation titled, “Food As Medicine.” Dr. Blumer will make her presentation at the Redmond Public Library on Wednesday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.
If you have ever wondered about the healing nature of foods, Dr. Blumer can help you understand more completely the beneficial nature of the foods we eat. “Simple changes in your diet can make huge changes in your life,” states Dr. Blumer. “The food we eat can help heal conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, insomnia, diabetes, depression, and menopause,” continues Blummer. During her presentation, Dr. Blummer will discuss the use of amino acids, phytoestrogens, antioxidants, essential fatty acids and vitamins. She will also address the downside of man made fats and sugar substitutes.
Dr. Blummer holds a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California. “Osteopathy treats the entire person rather than simply treating symptoms,” says Blummer, who opened Vital Link Osteopathic Health Center in Redmond four years ago. Before moving to Central Oregon ten years ago, she competed her residency training in family practice at Case Western Reserve/ University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH. She also holds a degree in homeopathy from the British Institute of Homeopathy.
This program is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit Deschutes Public Library at www.dpls.us or call 312-1032.
