Does your teenager try and use her myspace password to program the microwave? Has your tweenager developed a chronic wrist injury from too much keyboarding? If your child has become obsessed with surfing the web, Detective Scott Vincent of the Bend Police Department wants you to be aware of the good, the bad and the ugly that might be out there on the world wide web. He will be leading a program on keeping kids safe on the world wide web at the Redmond Public Library on September 25. The program is free and open to the public.
Vincent, who holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in Criminology, has been a police officer for 18 years, serving in a variety of capacities, including patrol officer, K-9 officer, Motorcycle Officer, and Detective. During his presentation, Vincent will provide parents the knowledge they need to know to better supervise their children’s on-line activities. “I can help parents over come their sense of lack of control of their child’s use of the web,” says Vincent. He’ll also discuss social networks, like the ever popular myspace. “Parents, computer savvy or not, need to know what to look for when supervising children and the world wide web.” Don’t miss the opportunity to learn how to keep our children safe while on-line.
