Don't Bug Me, I'm Reading! 2002 Summer Reading Program
The "Don't Bug Me, I'm reading" 2002 Summer Reading Program was a big success! Children in the La Pine area who participated in this buggy program read over 2,070 hours this summer! Each participant received a free paperback book of their choice, a bookmark, and a washable tattoo. They also got to reach into our "bucket of bugs" and pick out a plastic critter.

In addition, fun storytimes, puppet shows, and guest performers (Mud Pie Trio's musical show and OMSI's live bug presentation) took place throughout the summer for 6-11 year olds.
Congratulations to our 2002 Summer Reading Program Drawing winners! Each week two coupons were drawn and two children won fantastic giant insect puppets and hardback books. This year's lucky winners were:
Christopher Marcy, Chris Brown, Jeremy Meeuwsen, Amanda Ellis, Brandon Kolb, Katie Smith, Michael Davee, Kindi Irvin, Samuel Ramirez, Emily Glenn, Isaac Little, Tyler Bryant, Kati Newcomb, Wesley Bryant, Ben Brown, Caitlin Glenn, and Relukah Smoldt.
We also hid a giant, plastic, black ant in local businesses throughout the summer. The first family to find the ant received The DK Big Book of Bugs. A big thank you to the local businesses who hid our giant ant each week and congratulations to the winners:
