Dolls & Toys on Display at the Deschutes Public Library Posted By: Chantal Strobel Date Posted: 12/15/2000 (December 15, 2000) ‘Tis the season for dolls, toys, and giving hearts and the library is full of all three. The Bend Public Library is decorated with beautifully dressed dolls and handsome toys from the Dress-A-Doll®/Design-A-Toy™ project. The dolls and toys will be on display until Thursday, December 21. Klamath First Federal and the Deschutes Public Library System co-sponsored this outreach program to ensure that needy children in the Central Oregon community receive at least one gift this holiday season. "The Dress-A-Doll®/Design-A-Toy™ project has been a fun and successful project from the heart," said Library Marketing Director Chantal Strobel. "The support and involvement from the community was tremendous. As soon as the word got out, citizens checked out the unfinished dolls and toys, decorated them beautifully, and returned them to the library. We ran out of our 90 dolls and toys within a couple of days." The dolls and toys will be donated to the Kids Center for distribution to needy children across Deschutes County.
