Romeo, who earned her B.S. in Public Health from Montana State University in 1987, studied Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine. She successfully treats a wide variety of ailments, including pain, menopausal symptoms and allergies. “I show people how to regain energy and vitality.” Romeo says that the current healthcare system could be adversely affecting many people. “The drug industry spends 12 billion dollars each year telling us how healthy their drugs are for us, but may studies indicate differently, says Romeo.
According to Romeo, many people use acupuncture as a tool for preventative medicine. But she says in her experience most people turn to the ancient method when everything else has failed. “I am often the last resort for people – which is a mixed blessing.” By the time Romeo’s clients visit her, most serious complications have been ruled out, but her patients have often endured years of unnecessary pain or other symptoms. “People have doubts about acupuncture and that delays them from coming to see me,” says Romeo. “There is a big misconception that acupuncture is painful, but the majority of my patients fall asleep on my table. The needles are almost as fine as a hair.”
