Café Libri is open this month at the Bend Public Library on August 5, 2005 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. During this time, limited library services are available. This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Café Libri is the result of the library district responding to public suggestions. Created to provide a place to meet and mingle and enjoy food and friends in a casual environment, Café Libri events are hosted once a month throughout the library district. Refreshments will be served and entertainment provided. Visitors to Café Libi are encouraged to enjoy the music, browse the stacks and get acquainted with their library in a whole new way.
Local group, Stone Soup takes the stage at the August event. Stone Soup brings together the talents of four musicians who mix music and performance to create an original sound and blend of contemporary musical genres. Joe Leonardi, who does vocal and bass guitar duty for the group describes the Stone Soup as “original, thought provoking and socially conscious.” According to Leonardi, what sets Stone Soup apart from other groups, is the fact that everyone in the group is a singer/songwriter, each with a distinctive style. But when performed by the group, the songs take on a new life, complete with harmonies and a style specific to Stone Soup. “We love performing and have a good time interacting with the audience,” says Leonardi.
