Cafe Libri Tickles The Ivories

Posted By:  LIz Goodrich
Date Posted:  6/13/2005

Café Libri is open this month at the Sunriver Area Public Library on June 17, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. During this time, limited library services are available. This program is free and open to the public.

Café Libri is the result of the library district responding to public suggestions. Created to provide a place to meet and mingle and enjoy food and friends in a casual environment, Café Libri events are hosted once a month throughout the library district. Refreshments will be served and entertainment provided. Visitors to Café Libi are encouraged to enjoy the music, browse the stacks and get acquainted with their library in a whole new way.

Taking the stage at the June event is Marianne Thomas, a classically trained pianist, vocalist, singer/songwriter and music educator from Bend. Thomas has performed in ensembles throughout the United States and Europe and now enjoys writing and performing in an entertaining solo act. “I have been singing all her life,” says Thomas, who learned to play the piano at the age of 9. Thomas earned her Bachelors degree in Music Composition from Brown and also holds a Masters Degree in Music Education. Her songwriting influences and inspirations come from the pantheon of great singer/songwriters – Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins and Simon and Garfunkle to Tori Amos and Lucinda Williams.
Her live performances showcase her own pop/folk original songs as well as a few pop and country favorites.
