Duo Play at Sisters Cafe Libri

Posted By:  Liz Goodrich
Date Posted:  9/18/2007

Café Libri is open this month at the Sisters Public Library on September 20, 2007 from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. During this time, regular library services are available. This program is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.

At Café Libri this month is duo Deb Yager and Bo Reynolds. “You can call us singer/songwriters with an Austin twist,” says Yager. A former ad executive who’d lived the good life from NYC to Key West, New Orleans & Hawaii, Yager traded in the champagne & caviar for something more substantial; the call of her heart. She sold all her material possessions and moved to Austin, Texas to follow her dream of becoming a musician. When she got to Austin she sold her Mercedes Benz. Then she bought a blue Gibson Gospel guitar she nicknamed Baby Blue. She figures it was a fair trade.

The first few months in Austin were not easy for Yager. Open mic attempts were followed by her first “big gig” playing at a local grocery store recalls Yager. With the hundred bucks she made from her that first show, she put a down payment on a PA, and hasn’t looked back since. Yager’s music combines heartfelt, down to earth lyrics with a “voice from heaven,” says David Gold, of Texas Music magazine. She is equally capable of silencing a crowd with the vulnerable “My Secret” as she is with starting a groove with the powerful “Lonely & Blue.”
