“This show is for everyone who loves mountains,” says Hilloah Rohr, M.S. in Exercise Physiology and tour guide. Pursuing her love for mountains has taken Rohr around the world, but over and over again she returns to the majesty and magnificence of the Alps. Find out why the Alps are so special on Sunday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bend Public Library when Rohr shares her adventures abroad in a presentation titled, “The Golden Triangle of the Alps.” The program is free and open to the public.
Rohr says “it doesn’t matter if you’re an alpinist or a painter inspired by vistas. The Alps own a special magic.”
The Alps tell a compelling tale, from the time and manner in which they were formed, to the wars fought and changing of borders, to the alpinists who have dared climb the Matterhorn, the Eiger, and the Jorasses. Over the years Rohr has become comfortably familiar with the high mountain villages, hikers’ refuges, and unique fleur and fauna of the region. She says she is drawn back year after year because of the “many stories that this special area has to tell.” This year, images in her slide show include Switzerland, Italy and France.
