Local musician Brad Tisdel will demonstrate the intimate link between poetry and songwriting at this October's Second Sunday. This month's celebration of the written word will take place on Sunday, October 12th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Brooks Room of the Bend Public Library. An open mic will follow the guest reader, and for this musical version of Second Sunday, open mic volunteers are welcome to brin instruments if they would like to sing.

Local musician Brad Tisdel has worked for the past eight years as the co-founder and creator of the Americana Project, an organization that teaches guitar playing, song writing and American Roots music to young people. The Americana Project is currently underway in five different high schools.

Brad has also served as the Artistic Director of the Sisters Folk Festival, and last year released a recording of his own, "On Your Way", which contains 11 songs that chronicle his travels in Nepal, hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, and the birth of his son.

This program is free and open to the public. For information about this and other library programs, please see the library's calendar at www.dpls.us/cal or by calling 312-1034.
