This month's Second (third) Sunday is a poet slam, and will feature three of Bend's up and coming artists. Come prepared to be wowed on Sunday, November 16th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Brooks Room of the Bend Public Library. An open mic will follow the guest readers.
Cassie Moore is a local poet that has been participating in the Bend Poetry Slam for over a year. Her slam poetry is often infused with humor, sarcasm, and honesty as she attempts to express the complexities of this human experience. She is currently working on creating a chapbook of her poetry.
Lia Roberts is originally from Mount Lake Terrace, Washington. She is a blues singer/songwriter, and her main inspiration comes from late 1920's Blues, especially her idol, Mississippi Fred McDowell. She says, "My style is somewhat on the eerie and morbid side...I guess I'm just waiting to see the light."
Jamie Houghton has been performing original poetry since 2001. Her work is a mix of rhythm, storytelling, and leaps in language that provoke an emotional reaction from the listener. She is originally from Vermont, and is inspired by the landscape and culture there, as well as her travels throughout the U.S. She believes in using both sides of her brain.
