Rising Star Winners Read at Second Sunday

Winners of the 2008 Rising Star Creative Writing Competition will read a selection from their work at February's Second Sunday. This month's celebration of the written word will take place on Sunday, February 8th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Brooks Room of the Bend Public Library. This program is free and open to the public, and an open mic will follow the guest readers.
The Rising Star Creative Writing Competition is part of the Nature of Words, an annual Central Oregon literary event which showcases acclaimed authors and poets whose writing deal primarily with the western landscape. The Rising Star competition attracts entries from more than 100 aspiring young Northwest writers. Prizes are awarded in fiction, literary nonfiction and poetry in two age categories, 15-18 adn 19-25.
