The Deschutes Public Library is proud to present a discussion on both the history and current status of unions in Oregon. This presentation will take place on May 14th, at the Bend Public Library in the Brooks Room at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Michael Funke,
KPOV deejay and former community organizer for Central Oregon Jobs with Justice, will lead the discussion. Funke says that “Union organizing in Oregon mirrors national trends in many respects. Workers historically sought union representation to improve their living standards and working conditions.” Funke will be answering the question, “Are unions still relevant today?” The discussion will also include a medley of traditional and contemporary labor songs.
