The Deschutes Public Library and Second Sunday are pleased to announce a reading and one-woman performance of “BridgeStories by Sharon Wood Wortman” on Sunday, June 14th at the Bend Public Library, Brooks Room at 3:00 p.m.  “BridgeStories” is a one-woman show that draws from a memoir of the same name.  An open mic will follow the reading, and this event is free and open to the public.

Sharon Wood Wortman is a former Chautauqua scholar and author of The Portland Bridge Book and Walking Bridges Using Poetry as a Compass.  She has led bridge walks along the Willamette River for since 1991.  These became Poetry & Bridge walks in 2006.  She also leads walks for school and convention groups.  Most recently, she is working with a committee to organize an all-city celebration to honor the 100th birthday of the Hawthorne Bridge in Portland, the oldest operating vertical lift bridge anywhere.

For questions about this or other library events, please visit the library at www.dpls.us/cal or call Lisa McGean at 312-1034.  Those wishing to attend events that have special needs resulting from a disability should contact Lisa at 312-1034 at least three days prior to the event.
