It's All About Lavender at the La Pine Public Library

The Deschutes Public Library is pleased to announce a new craft series called “Get Crafty”. Starting in August and running through December, library branches around the district will host craft demonstrations and workshops all taught by local crafter, Anita Tracy. The first workshop, “Get Crafty: All About Lavender” will be held on Wednesday, August 5th, at 1:00 p.m. at the La Pine Public Library, and will highlight the history and uses of lavender. This program is free and open to the public, but limited to 20 participants. Please register by calling Lisa McGean at 541-312-1034, or by registering online at www.dpls.us/calendar.
The “All About Lavender” workshop will include a discussion on the history, folklore, and medicinal and culinary uses of lavender. The instructor, Anita Tracy, will also discuss selection, growing and harvesting tips. Workshop participants will bring home a small bag of lavender and a lavender cookie.

The Fall Centerpiece: October 7th, 6:30 p.m. in Bend
The Fall Centerpiece: October 7th, 1:00 p.m. in Sunriver
The Decorated Table: November 11th, 1:00 p.m. in Redmond
The Decorated Table: November 18th, 12 noon in Sisters
The Holiday Wreath: December 2nd, 6:30 p.m. Bend
All workshops require registration with the exception of “The Holiday Wreath”.
Bend resident Anita Tracy has a strong background in design. She worked as a fashion designer for a chain of boutiques for several years, then as a floral designer for more than 20 years. She is also a designer of decorator pillows utilizing antique textiles, handmade lace and fancy needle work from by-gone eras. She has been the owner of a quilt gallery, a crafts gallery, and a home furnishings business. Ms. Tracy currently works in her Bend studio with vintage textiles and also offers classes and the occasional tea party.
