Deschutes Public Library is pleased to host four mystery theater programs throughout the month of September as part of the Celebrate Oregon Author Series being hosted by Deschutes Public Library through 2009. Popular mystery writer Phillip Margolin is being honored as the author during September. All presentations are free and open to the public.

Steve Meyer, co-founder and owner of Buckboard Productions says the murder mysteries his theater troop presents are unique. “They start as soon as the audience arrives and always include some sort of audience participation.” Buckboard was started in 2006 in Redmond by Steve and his wife Sue Meyer. The actors in the company are veterans of film and stage with improv skills. Meyer says it’s the improve skills that keep the audience fully engaged. During the presentations at the libraries, participants will engage in the hunt for clues within the library to solve a mystery, with scenes and characters from Mr. Margolin’s books. Audience members at the Bend performance on September 18 can expect a mystery that ends with a special cast member!
