The Central Oregon Songwriters Association (COSA) is a nonprofit organization founded to promote, educate and motivate members to write, market, and improve their skills as songwriters. According to current president Dennis Plant, COSA has been encouraging local musicians since 1996 and currently has a membership of over 80 individuals. Members of COSA perform regularly at local venues and events, entertaining audiences while honing their musical skills.

 

Three COSA members will be performing during the library program. Janelle Musson, best known as Janellybean, has taught music for 12 years and is a COSA award-winning singer/songwriter. She is a local favorite children’s performer and has recently released her first children’s CD “Dance and Sing with Janellybean.” Allan Byer plays and writes eclectic folk rock music with contemporary lyrics about the challenges and joys of being a human on the planet at this unique moment in time. He has released three CD’s of original music on the Mirror Time Records label and is currently working on his 4th record currently. His songs have been played on regular radio stations like KLRR and KPOV in Bend, KLCC and KRVM, public radio stations in Eugene as well as Reservation Radio stations in Pendleton and Warm Springs, and numerous internet stations. Bill Valenti is a newly minted (but so far, undiscovered) songwriter. Since moving to Bend in 2008, he has composed and recorded over two dozen songs, which he performs at various venues around the area.
