Spend an afternoon with Portland film critic and biographer Shawn Levy as he discusses the fascinating life of Paul Newman. The iconic actor is the subject of his newly published book “Paul Newman: A Life”.
The reading will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 3:00 p.m. in the Brooks Room of the Bend Public Library. This event is free and open to the public.
Shawn Levy has been writing for The Oregonian since 1992 and has served as Film Critic since 1997. Prior to that, he was Senior Editor of American Film magazine. Levy, who has also published four other books, has embarked on a respectful and thorough survey of the beloved and charismatic Paul Newman. The biography covers his massive film career, his long marriage of over 40 years to actress Joanne Woodward, and his later years as a great philanthropist. Levy writes in his acknowledgements that he got the idea to start this biography in 2005. Paul Newman passed away on September 26, 2008, giving Levy’s book a timely, but bittersweet ending.
