Do It Yourself Freezer Jam

Posted By:  Liz Goodrich
Date Posted:  3/6/2010

2010 is the year of the do it yourself project! People are growing their own food, painting their own houses, and building their own decks. Deschutes Public Library is pleased to welcome Ahja King, Queen of All Things Domestic, for a program about how to make strawberry freezer jam at the Redmond Public Library on Wednesday, March 10 at 6:30 pm. The program is free and open to the public but class size is limited to 30. Register by calling 312-1032 or sign up on line at www.deschuteslibrary.org.

King says that “freezer jam is great mostly because anybody can do it.” She says that freezer jam is a terrific food project for parents with even the smallest kids. “I think freezer jam tastes better than traditionally canned jams, because you don't cook away all the fresh fruit flavor. It's like eating a fresh bite of summer all year long.  Program participants will take home a sample of freezer jam to enjoy.

For more information about this or other library programs, please visit the library website at www.deschuteslibrary.org. People with disabilities needing accommodations (alternative formats, seating or auxiliary aides) should contact Liz at 312-1032.
