The Deschutes Public Library is proud to present two workshops given by local artist and Art Therapist Walter Lee. The first workshop is for adults, and will be held on
Saturday, March 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the La Pine Public Library. The second workshop will be specifically for teens, and will be held on
Saturday, April 17th at 1:00 p.m., also at the La Pine Public Library. These workshops are free and open to the public, but are limited to 12 participants each. Please register by clicking one of the links on this page or by calling Lisa McGean at 541-312-1034.
In these workshops, Walter Lee says that, “Each participant will be given some colors and paper and he will take them on a journey to unlocking what colors they associate with their emotions, and what those emotions reveal about themselves and how they see their world.” He adds that, “This process is most helpful in unlocking people who feel stuck in relationships, jobs, or circumstances, and tends to empower them by helping them understand how they are participating with those circumstances to either perpetuate them or change them.”
Walter Lee, who holds a Masters degree in Counseling and a Doctorate in Education, and whose art is currently on display at the La Pine Public Library, is both an artist and therapist who specializes in group counseling and family therapy, often with the help of art therapy. He says that “Sometimes the images we gather in the course of a lifetime need sorting out to make peace with ourselves and others. Exploring those images through creativity allows us to express feelings that often words cannot convey.” His workshops focus on the development of wellness in the whole person through creativity, and finding connections and their meanings from your past to free up your energy to live in the present. He stresses that “Creativity is the key to wellness.”, and that this will aid in “Reducing stress, increasing happiness, and celebrating your life successes.”
