The Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory and the Deschutes Public Library is honored to co-present an evening discussing the interaction between science and religion with Dr. Peter M.J. Hess at the
Sunriver Area Public Library on Friday, June 18th beginning at 7:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Hess is an acclaimed public speaker who addresses a wide range of topics including the interaction between science and religion. His presentations are stimulating and thought-provoking. He regularly addresses religion, philosophical and historical aspects of the controversy surrounding evolution and creation, and draws out important theological implications for all to ponder.
Hess is Director of Outreach to Religious Communities at the prestigious National Center for Science Education (Oakland, CA) and is co-author of Catholicism and Science. He also teaches liberal studies at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California. Hess’s graduate studies include an M.A. from Oxford University in Philosophy and Theology, and a Ph.D. in Science and Religion from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Ca.
