Join the Deschutes Public Library as we recognize the heritage of the Hispanic community with a full month of programs and activities. This is part of a national period that celebrates the cultural contributions of Hispanic Americans to the United States. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week and was approved by President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15
th and ending on October 15
th. This period was chosen for this celebration because it is the anniversary of independence of eight separate Latin American countries.
Visit the DPL
Hispanic Heritage Month page for a full list of events and programs.
All programs are free and open to the public. Program times, dates, and locations are subject to change. Check times at your local library or at www.deschuteslibrary.org/calendar.
