The Friends of the Redmond Library Art Committee is hosting the Central Oregon Woodworkers exhibit at the Redmond Public Library May 5, through June 16. This first of its kind show will include lathe-turned cowboy hats, furniture such as chairs and tables, jewelry boxes, musical instruments, whimsical wall hangings, intarsia, carving and sculpture all created by talented men and women of Central Oregon.  Meet the artists at a reception being held on Saturday, May 19 between 1pm and 3pm.

Select pieces will be for sale and 20% of the proceeds will benefit the Redmond Friends of the Library who support the Art Committee and library programs.

The mailing list for the group is 100 strong. Regular monthly meetings, which are held at various shops around Central Oregon, see 20 or so in attendance. Collaborations, tool sales and purchases and mentoring have all been part of the group's history. Members of the group range from hobbyist beginners to longtime professionals. They are turners, cabinetmakers, teachers, furniture-makers, artists and tool aficionados all sharing a passion for wood and its facileness and beauty.
