Deschutes Public Library is pleased to announce “Know Politics,” a month-long series of programs in October. Three of the month’s programs will be led by the League of Women Voters of Deschutes County, and are designed to shed light on the issues and candidates that are shaping the 2012 political landscape. All forums are free and open to the public.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League of Women Voters was founded in 1920 and operates at national, state and local levels through more than 800 state and local Leagues that are found in all 50 states as well in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.
