Deschutes Public Library is pleased to host BendFilm’s Future Filmmakers screening at the
Downtown Bend Library on Saturday, September 7, 2013. The presentation starts at 2:00 p.m. Many of the young filmmakers will be on hand to answer questions about their submissions. The presentation is free and open to the public. Submissions to Future Filmmakers will be accepted until August 30, 2013. For details about submitting to Future Filmmakers please visit www.bendfilm.org.
According to
BendFilm Festival Director Orit Schwartz the Future Filmmakers portion of the festival came into being the second year of BendFilm. “Young filmmakers are literally our future,” says Schwartz. “We love to see projects from them and hope that one day they'll submit to the main festival.” This, according to Schwartz, has already happened. “Ian Dalesky and Patrick Dawn, 2005 Future Filmmaker participants, had a film in the student short competition in 2011.”
For the young filmmakers Schwartz believes the most exciting aspect of participating is getting the audience reaction and feedback to something they have created. “Seeing your film on a big screen, in the dark, with an audience reaction is always thrilling.” The festival runs this year October 10-13 and will include a screening of the winning Future Filmmaker’s submission.
This year marks the 10
th anniversary of BendFilm. The festival mission of celebrating the brave voice of independent cinema through films, lectures and education has enriched the Central Oregon cultural landscape. For more information about BendFilm visit their web site at www.bendfilm.org.
