Library Foundation Lines Up its 2nd Annual Author! Author! Literary Series

Four Award-winning Authors Scheduled to Visit Central OregonThe Deschutes Public Library Foundation’s Author! Author! literary series kicks off its second year with a slate of award-winning authors. Revenue from ticket sales will provide funds support Library services and programs. Author! Author! is a quarterly event that kicks off November 14, 2013 and will run through June 2014.
“The Author! Author! Literary Series celebrates four of the finest authors writing today,” said Author! Author! Project Director Chantal Strobel. “We believe these acclaimed voices are critical to expand the cultural landscape in Central Oregon. Author! Author! improves literacy, strengthens community dialogue, and enhances the programs and services of the Deschutes Public Library. It’s a win-win for all!”

Rebecca Skloot author of

Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Bend High School Auditorium.
National Book Award Winner
Sherman Alexie author of
The Absolute True Diary of a Part-time Indian;

Friday, January 24, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Bend High School Auditorium.

The Library Foundation will gift 200 seats to area high schools for students to attend the four author presentations. Author! Author! Series.
“The Library Foundation works closely with regional high schools to provide books for students to read prior to each author’s visit and provides 200 tickets for students to attend the author presentations,” Strobel said. “This is part of an effort to reach out to young adults in the region and expose them to quality literature while engaging them in discussions regarding the book’s themes and content.”
