Being ready for kindergarten is more than just knowing the ABC's. It also requires knowledge of print, a strong vocabulary, and appropriate development of social skills. All of these can be developed at Deschutes Public Library's new early learning spaces. The Redmond Library's space is currently open; the Sisters Library will have one later this fall, followed soon by East Bend Library and Downtown Bend Library.
One of the components of the early learning space is the Imagination Station, where children play with toys and educational manipulatives related to a sponsoring community business. Redmond's station began with Eberhard's, and now features Mazatlan Restaurant. A banner bearing the sponsor's name is featured on the station, and the library actively publicizes the partnership.
If your business would like to sponsor an Imagination Station, allowing for hundreds of children to learn through play, please
contact your library's supervisor or manager. Sponsorship is $500 for six months, and is used to pay for the banner and the educational toys.
