Start your Third Friday Art Stroll at the Redmond Library for holiday music and refreshments. The performance by Cascade Brass Quintet starts at 4:30 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public. Following the performance, it’s a quick two block stroll to downtown Redmond and additional Third Friday Stroll festivities.

The Cascade Brass Quintet has performed at least one Christmas concert every year since 2000. "This is what we do,” said French Horn player Tim Lynch. "We all have busy schedules which can make it difficult to get together for other performances, but we always do Christmas." The Cascade Brass Quintet is a collection of talented musicians better known for playing together once a week than performing. Trumpet player Bob Shimek said "we are all involved in other groups and have many opportunities to perform. Performing is not that high on our priority list." Their weekly get-togethers started during the summer 13 years ago, which adds up to around 500 get-togethers. Occasionally they rehearse for a performance. Mostly they play for the joy of playing music together. Each member’s book is several inches thick with music from nearly all genres represented in the collection. "That’s the beauty of a brass quintet. You can play nearly any musical style with the combination of instruments we have, and there is a large selection of good brass quintet music available. This is in addition to our own arrangements done by Tom Barber, our tuba player" said Bruce Emerson, the groups’ founder.
