Learn the basics of screenwriting when industry veteran Michael Gough presents “Screenwriting 101” as part of Deschutes Public Library’s month of “Know Movies” programming in February.

Novelist and screenwriter Raymond Chandler said, “The challenge of screenwriting is to say much in little and then take half of that little out and still preserve an effect of leisure and natural movement.” While that’s easier said than done, in this program Gough will help demystify the process for people interested in working on their own screenplay.

Michael Gough made his first film when he was still in high school in the 1970s. Entitled Eulogy for Nature, the short made it into the Atlanta Film Festival. Michael attended Georgia State University’s Film School and located to Sisters in 1996 to begin working as a technician on the world’s largest camera crane at Fluid Images. Michael is principal of Green Scream Media, which specializes in creating film for socially and environmentally conscious entities. An Emmy and Telly Award recipient and 25-year veteran of the film industry, Michael now focuses on giving a voice through film to those who struggle to be heard.
