Sterling McCord, owner of Bend Electric Bikes, rides his Bullitt Clockwork with an Ebike-Kit every day. You may have seen him around town on his orange and black cargo bike dropping his children at school, running errands, getting supplies and groceries, or taking his wife on an occasional date. Learn more about the electric bike revolution at the Downtown Bend and Redmond Libraries as part of the Know Go series throughout March. The presentations are free and open to the public. Bikes will be available for test drives for participants over 15 years of age. Waivers will be available and must be signed prior to riding.

McCord started his business from of his garage over 10 years ago, recycling bikes and adding electric conversion kits for friends and family. He expanded to a small shop in 2008 and soon outgrew that space as well. On a daily basis he guides his customers in paradigm shifts regarding transportation. “Electric bikes knock down barriers of physical fitness, terrain, time constraints and introduces a mode of transportation that challenges the automobile,” says McCord. “They let you accomplish more work with the same or less effort than a pedal only bike.” He is a supporter of transportation revolutionaries around the world, dedicated to seeing electric bikes take market share from the automobile. “Electric bikes are encouraging more people to leave their cars behind.”
