Story StarsPopular children’s author offers fun with children and adult workshop

Judy Sierra, an award-winning children’s author of over 30 picture and poetry books, will present a free program for a family audience at the Tower Theatre on June 28 at 1:00 p.m. Books will be for sale, and autographing will follow her presentation. She will also give a workshop at the Downtown Bend Library at 3:00 p.m. for adults interested in writing and publishing for children.

Sierra’s books feature high action and plenty of humor in plots that include zoo animals staging a musical, good manners to use when shopping with a dinosaur, and a science project that almost eats the school. Her most recent book, E-I-E-I-O: How Old MacDonald Got His Farm (With a Little Help from a Hen) is a hilarious rhyming romp that explains how the popular song began. Admission to the Tower Theatre performance is by free ticket available at all Deschutes Public Libraries.

Sierra is not only an author, but also a puppeteer and storyteller. Her workshop at 3:00 is titled “Writing Tips from Dr. Seuss,” and will feature her upcoming book about his writing process. Registration is requested and can be completed online.
