LOWVOR® is a grassroots, nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government in order to build better communities statewide. Their mission is to provide balanced, accurate, nonpartisan information to all Oregonians prior to elections. Susie Penhollow, current voter service chair and long-time LOWVOR® member, says forums are a critical platform for voters to become familiar with candidates. “Forums are an excellent opportunity for the voters of Deschutes County to listen to the views and accomplishments of the candidates through a question/answer format,” she says. The moderated forums give candidates time to state their positions and then respond to questions from the moderator as well as the audience. “The forums are a great way for the people to meet the candidates that will represent them,” says Penhollow.
