Second Sunday: One Breath Poets

This July Deschutes Public Library's Second Sunday welcomes the One Breath Poets.

One Breath Poets is a group of Central Oregon poets interested in improving their craft through the study of haiku and other forms of compressed poetic expression, including renga and haibun. The group's poems are based on nature and as well as their lives when viewed as part of the seasonal flow of time and change. For this event, the group will read poetry and letters that they call Notes to Lady Murasaki, which evolved from their readings of Murasaki's 11th-century novel "The Tale of Genji." The group will also share poems, including a renga, written at Summer Lake where members held a retreat. Readers include Nancy Bright, Lorna Cahall, Marion Davidson, Denise Fainberg, Sandy Thompson, and Janet Whitney.

Second Sunday, the library's monthly celebration of the written word, takes place this month on July 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Downtown Bend Library.
