Posted By:  Tina Walker Davis
Date Posted:  9/17/2020

Deschutes Public Library’s annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest moves online this year—which means you can be more creative than ever! Decorate a pumpkin as one of your favorite book characters and send us a photo. We’ll share the entries with the community for online voting; winners get a fun bag of library swag, and everyone gets a prize. It’s easy and fun for the whole family!

Rules:

  • Pumpkins must be inspired by a book or a character from a book
  • You can cut or carve your pumpkin, or paint your pumpkin, or glue/paste items on your pumpkin; the only rule is that you use a pumpkin or gourd (either real or fake)
  • Entries accepted via email only—do not bring your pumpkin to the library
  • Email a photo of your pumpkin to deschuteslibrary@gmail.com no later than October 15, 2020; include the name of the book/character that inspired your pumpkin and the first name of the pumpkin’s creator(s)
  • One entry per person

Important dates:

  • October 15: Last day to submit your photo entry to deschuteslibrary@gmail.com (include the name of the book/character that inspired your pumpkin and the first name of the pumpkin’s creator/s)
  • October 20–28: Online voting is open; use this link to cast your vote for ONE pumpkin: http://dpl.pub/2020PumpkinContest
  • October 30: Winners announced at 11:00 a.m. (top three vote getters received a library swag bag); winners will be notified via the email address they used to submit their entry
