Donating Items to the Library

The library encourages and accepts donations for our Friends of the Library Groups' book sales. The proceeds of these events help purchase additional popular materials and support library activities like early literacy programs and projects.

If you have a question about an item you would like to donate, please contact your local library.

General Donation Guidelines

Accepted Materials
  • Hard Cover and Paperback Books
  • Magazines in good condition
    (not accepted in Sisters)
  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Graphic Novels and Comics
  • Vinyl Records
  • Sheet Music
  • Cassettes
    (only accepted in Bend and Redmond)
  • VHS Tapes
    (only accepted in Bend and Redmond)
Materials Not Accepted
  • Damaged or soiled items
  • Textbooks
  • Encyclopedias or Dictionaries
  • Reader's Digest Condensed Books
  • Puzzles or Games

Preferred Donation Hours

Downtown Bend and East Bend

Donations will be accepted during open hours.

Please box donations of 10 or more items. Unboxed donations of more than 10 items cannot be accepted. Small donations (up to one box) can be taken to both the EBend and DBend Public Service Desks. Larger donations (up to 4 boxes) can be taken to the Downtown Bend Library back alley entrance. Donations of more than 4 boxes can be dropped off on Wednesdays from 1-3pm at the Bend Friends Book Cellar (south entrance of 507 NW Wall St, Bend.) Tuesday - Friday 10:00 - 6:00 and Saturday 12:00 - 5:00


Monday - Friday 10:00 to 6:00


Tuesdays 1:00 to 3:00 and Saturdays 1:00 to 3:00

Please limit donations to 2 bags or small boxes. Arrangements for larger donations may be made by leaving your contact information with book corner staff or library staff.
Materials Not Accepted: cookbooks and religious materials


Tuesday - Friday 10:00 - 6:00 and Saturday 10:00 - 5:00
Books may be dropped off in an outside donation box at the North end of the building on the patio.
