Future Libraries: Downtown Bend

The Downtown Bend Library is conveniently located near the heart of Bend on Wall Street, just one block south of the downtown core. The remodeled Downtown Bend Library will increase the amount of space available to the public while adding public meeting and co-working spaces, a vibrant children’s discovery area, and updated technology and resources throughout.

What’s happening at the Downtown Bend Library?

The Downtown Bend Library will close down in phases in preparation for its remodel:

  • February 2, 2026: Second floor closes to the public  
  • February 2 - March 7, 2026: Resources and services available on the first floor include the children’s area, materials return and holds pick-up, self-check kiosks, copier/printer access, and limited computer access. There will be a small browsing collection, including new and hot adult titles.
  • March 8 – April 10, 2026: Library services available on first floor include materials return and holds pick-up, self-check kiosks, copier/printer access, and limited computer access. There will be a small browsing collection of new and hot adult titles.
  • April 11, 2026–spring 2027*: Downtown Bend Library temporarily closed for remodel
  • April 2026*: Drive-thru service begins at the Central Library at Stevens Ranch
  • Spring 2026*: Central Library at Stevens Ranch fully opens to the public
  • Spring 2027*: Downtown Bend Library re-opens to the public
