What’s happening at the Downtown Bend Library?
The Downtown Bend Library will close down in phases in preparation for its remodel:
- February 2, 2026: Second floor closes to the public
- February 2 - March 7, 2026: Resources and services available on the first floor include the children’s area, materials return and holds pick-up, self-check kiosks, copier/printer access, and limited computer access. There will be a small browsing collection, including new and hot adult titles.
- March 8 – April 10, 2026: Library services available on first floor include materials return and holds pick-up, self-check kiosks, copier/printer access, and limited computer access. There will be a small browsing collection of new and hot adult titles.
- April 11, 2026–spring 2027*: Downtown Bend Library temporarily closed for remodel
- April 2026*: Drive-thru service begins at the Central Library at Stevens Ranch
- Spring 2026*: Central Library at Stevens Ranch fully opens to the public
- Spring 2027*: Downtown Bend Library re-opens to the public

Multi-purpose Community Room
This large community space will host library programs and events, and can also be reserved by the community for private meetings and gatherings.

A youth programming room is planned to host story times, crafts, and creative activities, and other exciting programs for children.

Children of all ages will enjoy a dynamic discovery space for interactive play and learning.

Children’s Collection
From board books to youth chapter books, children will find a vast array of books in this newly designed and enlarged space.

These reservable room address the increased demand for study and meeting spaces for individuals and small groups

A generous area dedicated to co-working for students and working professionals allows for collaboration and access to library resources.

Open Seating / Technology Access
Ample seating and access to technology is available throughout the second floor.
