What’s happening in Redmond?

Like much of Central Oregon, Redmond has grown by leaps and bounds in the past 20 years. The Redmond Library serves as a dynamic community hub, and we’re excited to grow that hub to a 40,000-square-foot library befitting the growth of the city. The new library is being built on the site of the former library between Cascade and Deschutes Avenues and is expected to be complete in early winter 2024/2025. A temporary Redmond Library is now open at 2127 S Highway 97 in Redmond. The hours are 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Multi-purpose Meeting Rooms
Large and divisible meeting spaces are available to the community during the day and for after-hour meetings/gatherings.

Creative/DIY Space
Highly functional spaces provide opportunities for creative, hands-on activities and programs for all ages. Adjoining smaller rooms are available for recording, ﬁlming, and collaborating.

Books and Materials Displays
New and best-selling books are on display for the public to browse and check out.

Children’s Discovery Space
Children of all ages enjoy a dynamic discovery space for interactive play and learning, as well as a story time area.

Civic Patio
A covered patio creates an inviting space for all ages to gather and enjoy the outdoors. The patio faces the civic center across the street and provides outdoor space for special programs and events.

On the second level, adults and teens enjoy a collaborative/co-working area, tutor rooms, a dedicated teen space, ample seating, and technology access throughout, as well as natural light beaming through large windows and skylights. The second floor also holds the majority of the materials collection.

Collab/Co-Working Area
A generous area dedicated to co-working for students and working professionals allows for collaboration and access to library resources.

Teen Space
Teens meet, study, and create in a space all their own.

Open Seating/Technology Access
Ample seating and access to technology is available throughout the second ﬂoor. Seating along the windows maximizes the views.

Solar panels are located on the library’s roof and cover parking lot stalls to provide energy for this net-zero building. Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are available in the parking lot too. A drive-up window creates convenience for library customers to pick up and drop off materials. An extension of Redmond’s history walk shares important milestones and honors the people who made a dierence for the Redmond library and community.

Solar Panels/EV Charging Stations
The Redmond Library is committed to meeting its net-zero goals by maximizing the use of solar panels on the roof and over parking stalls, as well as providing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

Drive-up Window
Customers can pick-up materials at the convenient drive-up window when the library is open and drop off materials through the library’s after-hours book return.

History Walk
The library extends the Redmond History Walk onto its property with special recognition of the Jesse Hill School and the original librarians who served the community for several decades.
